With the increasing trend of Singaporeans using English as their home language, the teaching of Mother Tongue Languages has become more challenging. The learning that takes place between the ages of three to six is critical, as it has a long-term impact on children’s intellectual and linguistic development. In this session, the speaker will explain how play-based learning can be used in both classrooms and at home to support pre-school children’s development in oracy skills. The speaker will also demonstrate key steps in setting up a conducive learning environment and utilising teaching aids and a story stage to make Mother Tongue Language learning fun for children.
