At EtonHouse Zhong Hua Pre-School, inquiry is used as an approach to introduce traditional Chinese culture to the children.
Our children discovered shadows during an outdoor game of dragon dance. The discovery piqued their curiosity and eventually led to a visit to the Singapore Science Centre. The children also watched a shadow puppet play of the Chinese classic "Journey to the West".
Children were also introduced to Chinese opera and will be actively involved in a small drama production to be staged later in the year.
Children's thoughts and interests are respected and it is the centre’s hope that children can grow to appreciate Chinese culture through this process.
伊顿中华幼儿园以“中华传统文化”为题，开展了一系列的探究活动。
幼儿在户外舞龙游戏中发现了“影子”，并想进一步了解“影子”。教师将幼儿带到科学馆参观。之后，结合中华传统文化，安排幼儿观看皮影戏《西游记》。这使幼儿对《西游记》十分感兴趣。幼儿园进一步与新加坡传统艺术中心合作，将戏曲元素融入舞台剧中，并会在今年呈献一场演出。
这一系列的探索活动，给予幼儿学习的主导权与真实的学习体验。伊顿中华幼儿园深信幼儿在这样的探索过程中，一定会爱上中华传统文化。
