Greendale Primary School introduced Story Map during Storytime to encourage the speaking of the Tamil Language among lower primary pupils. Pupils are encouraged to talk about the stories they have watched or listened to by identifying the various elements of Story Map. This early exposure enables them to understand the structure of stories even before they become independent readers or writers.
Story Map has proven to be an engaging and motivating strategy for lower primary pupils to verbalize their understanding as well as to express their opinions freely. They have emerged as confident users of the language as they have had more opportunities to express themselves.
Story Map also builds mental organisation skills which encourages pupils to speak confidently to their peers. This strategy has laid a sound foundation for students to internalise comprehension passages and to write compositions as they progress to middle primary.

பெரிய புத்தகம், சிறுவர் கதைநூல் முதலியவற்றின் வாயிலாகவும் படத்தொடர், ஒளிக்காட்சி வாயிலாகவும் மாணவர்களுக்குக் கதைகள் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்படுகின்றன. இக்கதைகளைப் பற்றிய புரிதலை மாணவர்களுக்கிடையே அதிகரிக்கும் நோக்கில் இந்த உத்திமுறை பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டது.
மாணவர்கள் முதலில் கதைகளைக் கேட்டோ பார்த்தோ புரிந்துகொள்வர். பின்பு, கதைவரைபடத்தில் இடம்பெறவேண்டிய கூறுகளை அடையாளங்காண்பர். இந்தக் கூறுகளின் அடிப்படையில், மாணவர்கள் கதையைப்பற்றி மேலும் விவரித்துப் பேசுவார்கள். கதையைக் கதையாக மட்டும் கூறாமல் கதையின் கூறுகளை ஆராய்ந்தபோது, மாணவர்களுக்குக் கதைகளின்மேல் அதிக ஆர்வம் ஏற்பட்டது. அவர்கள் கதையில் ஏற்பட்ட சிக்கல்களையும் அதற்கான தீர்வுகளையும் கண்டறிந்தார்கள். இந்நடவடிக்கையின்போது, மாணவர்களது ஆர்வத்தையும் ஈடுபாட்டையும் ஆசிரியர்கள் சரியாகப் பயன்படுத்திக்கொண்டு விழுமியங்களையும் நற்பண்புகளையும் வலியுறுத்தினார்கள்.
