Writing well is a valuable skill with tremendous positive impact upon the learning of the Chinese Language. To allow students to master this skill, Evergreen Secondary School CL teachers has created a comprehensive framework to help scaffold this learning process. It is known as the “Yummy Compo(sition) Menu”, and comes in three sections; namely, Appetizer, Main Course and Dessert. Each section encompasses one domain of composition writing. In each domain, the different skills for writing are distilled into individual, actionable items.
The Menu allows teachers to differentiate and customize the skills required for each student and thus level up their writing skills.competencies. This learning experience allows students to become more confident in the use of the Chinese Language.
永青中学为了让学生“悦写”越精彩，设计了一套全面性的写作指导框架“美味作文”，让学生按照自己的喜好与能力，炒一道“美味作文”。教师在每一次的作文课时反复使用这套“菜单”，提醒学生在作文中增加好词、描写细致的句子、精心策划故事及减少啰嗦和错误的表达、枯燥乏味的陈述和毫无新意的布局谋篇。
“美味作文”除了使用差异教学中的菜单策略，同时也运用了分层教学的方法，为不同程度的学生提供更为细致的自检参考练习，使每位学生都能从中受益。同时，永青中学也为学生营造轻松、自主的课室环境，以学生的自省、互助为主，老师指导为辅，将主动权还给学生，以期最佳的学习效果。
