The development of reading ability is key in basic education. It is best to develop an interest in reading and good reading habits at a young age. The Singapore Centre for Chinese Language is, therefore, keen to promote reading. The exhibition booth will feature The New Stars Island Graded Picture Book Series for children of different ages. The team will be engaging children in interactive games and language learning activities using a Chinese mobile app developed by students.Other exhibits which support the teaching and learning of Chinese include books and resources on pre-school education, a Chinese Essay Guiding System and the Chinese Language Teaching Resources Platform—Text Grading.

阅读能力的培养是基础教育的关键，而阅读应该从早期开始并着重阅读兴趣与良好阅读习惯的培养。新加坡华文教研中心向来积极推广华文阅读，其展台将展示适合不同年龄的孩子的读物——《新新岛》分级读本系列。教研中心的老师也会让孩子使用青少年在“华文应用编程比赛”中设计的语文游戏、活动等，以轻松、有趣的方式接触华文，学习华文。另外，教研中心将展示一些与学前教育有关的书籍、教具，也会介绍为教师设计的“作文引导系统”、“华文教学资源平台-文本分级”等教学资源，以便更好地支持华文教学，促进优质学习。
